Sophie Charlotte Belnos (1795–1865) was a 19th-century artist and lithographer known for her detailed visual chronicles of daily life, rituals, and domestic scenes in colonial Bengal.

Unlike her famous predecessors, the Daniells, who painted the oriental scenery from a boat, Belnos walked along river banks to paint the un-picturesque and the ordinary. A dfferent perspective, a different gaze.
